"Mahabubnagar" is a district in Andhra Pradesh, India. It is the largest district in Telangana region and the second largest district in Andhra Pradesh state.
History:
Mahabubnagar is formarly known as "Rukmammapeta" and also as "Palamuru". On December 4th, 1890 it's has been changed to "Mahabubnagar", in honour of Mir Mahabub Ali Khan Asaf Jah VI, the Nizam of Hyderabad (1869-1911 AD). It is said that the famous Golconda diamonds including famous "KOHINOOR" diamond came from Mahabubnagar district.
It is very hard to understand the history of Palamoor as this region was always neglected by the rulers. And for most of the time, this region was ruled by very small regional rulers, Samasthans, Jamindars, Doras or land lords. More over, majority of Palamoor people always lived in poverty and slavery and recording of history was never a priority. Nobody neither knows about their history nor they want to know it. Even today the people of this region struggle all their life for basic needs.
Some of the famous samasthans in Palamoor are Amarachinta Samasthan, Gadwal Samasthan, Wanaparthi Samasthan and Kolalpur Samasthan.
Present:
As famous Telugu writer Sri Sri said "Ee charitra choosina emunnadi garvakaranam", "Ee samasthanam choosina emunnaddi garvakaranam", people of Mahabubnagar always struggled for their existence. So Mahabubnagar waited eagerly to get independence from Nizams and samasthanams.
But independence didn't bring anything new to the people. The only change Mahabubnagar experienced was, now the district is sub-divided into different constituencies and the power got shifted hands from Rajas to MLAs and MPs, and poor Mahabubnagar continued to struggle for all these years.
Even being surrounded by two of the biggest rivers in Andhra Pradesh, Mahabubnagar, especially rural areas always struggled for drinking as well as irrigation water. No samsthan, no Government has never ever made any conscious attempt to improve the infrastructure required to alleviate the effect of draught in rural Mahabubnagar. It hasn't been rained properly in Rural Mahabubnagar for past 13 years. This triggered the drying up of water sources, both for drinking and agriculture, which has led to crop losses, loss of jobs, increasing levels of indebtedness, distress sale of cattle and other assets, increase in out-migration, a sharp drop in purchasing power, which the recent hike in administered prices has added to, and a growing population of the undernourished and the hungry.
With struggling to get required food and water, people started to migrate to bigger cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad to work as construction coolies. Even in this modern era, people of Mahabubnagar are famously known as "Construction Coolies".
Let me explain one example. There is a boy of name "Kathal", who was living in a village called Lingampalli, 5 Km from Dhanwada Mandal. He used to walk 5km everyday to go to the primary school in Dhanwada. As he grew up, because of draught, his family started to struggle to get required food.
His father became very distressed, gradually his health deteriorated and he left his body in couple of months. His mother was unable to run the family, so she took a loan of 10,000 from one of the construction contractors, who visits the village frequently to find new construction coolies. He took Kathal with him at the age of 13 years, to make him work at a construction site in Mumbai to repay the loan.
One day when Kathal was working on 15th floor of the construction site, his foot accidentally got slipped and he fell to ground from the floor he was working on. Luckily all the fellow workers who were working with him, took him general hospital near by, and doctors had to do 8 surgeries to save him. Miraculously Kathal was saved and he returned back to home, as he was unable to work because of physical pain. After a month, the same contractor went back to the village, started harassing them to return his money as Kathal is not anymore working for him.
This is the story of every family in Rural Mahabubnagar. What was the fault of all these people? Taking birth in Mahabubnagar? Negligence of Governments? Lack of true leaders?
Please post your opinions. If we all can come up with a solution for the sake of all these poor childern who are unable to go to school, it really helps India to move forward.
Jai Hind.

Hey KK,
It was very thoughtful of you to bring into light the facts and problems about the area which people have hardly heard of. This might be the case of many other rural areas of Andhra Pradesh and in fact many parts of India. Even though India is now growing fast in technology and economy, it is a real pity that most of our rural areas are still facing problems and are not getting their basic needs satisfied. But let us not keep this issue to blogs and just discussion only; deeds speak louder than words, so let us do something to help them out. May be if there is someone whom you can trust there can help us out to reach the needy, we can sponsor a teacher to teach the children basic education or we can sponsor to a run a bus or just an auto to send these kids to school to the near by place. Let us not wait for the government to help us.
You can always count on me for any support you need regarding this.
Jai Hind
